1000hugs Foundation is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for girls and young women in Uganda. Through comprehensive services and community engagement, the foundation strives to build a future where all girls can thrive and reach their full potential.
Addressing GBV is a cornerstone of the foundation’s work, aiming to prevent violence and support survivors. Key components include:
Awareness Campaigns: These campaigns focus on educating the public about different forms of GBV, including physical, sexual, psychological, and economic violence. The foundation uses media, community events, and workshops to spread awareness.
Support Services: The foundation provides survivors of GBV with access to psychological counseling, legal aid, and medical care. Safe spaces are established where survivors can receive confidential support and services.
Training and Capacity Building: Training programs for community leaders, law enforcement, healthcare providers, and educators help them recognize and appropriately respond to cases of GBV. These programs aim to build a supportive network that can effectively protect and assist survivors.
