1000HUGS Foundation is a non-governmental organization (NGO) based in Kamwokya, Kampala, Uganda, dedicated to empowering young women and adolescent girls. Since our inception in 2020, we have focused on critical areas such as sexual and reproductive health, menstrual hygiene, gender-based violence, empowerment, and child abuse and neglect. We operate in various regions around Uganda, working to create a safer and more supportive environment for young women and girls.

Brenda Kembabazi - Team Lead

Brenda Kembabazi is the passionate and dedicated team lead for 1000HUGS Foundation. With a fervent commitment to empowering the girl child and combating menstrual stigma among adolescents, Brenda has been a driving force behind all the foundation’s initiatives. Brenda has always been a strong advocate for women's rights and health, having witnessed firsthand the struggles that many young girls face in Uganda.
Her personal experiences have equipped her with the skills and insight needed to lead meaningful change. Her work is driven by the belief that empowering girls at a young age is crucial for their development and future success. Brenda envisions a society where discussing puberty and menstruation is normalized and where girls are given the tools they need to thrive.
